First I tested the colors to see which scheme I wanted my final product to be. I decided on cooler shades rather than traditional warm sunset colors. I used purples and blues
I used watercolor because I wanted my colors to look light and free flowing. To get this look I soaked my watercolor paper, dropped paint all over the water, and tilted the paper to let the colors run together.
Lastly I made my dead tree silhouette. To do this I dried my paper and painted on bare trees with black watercolor. Then I put in blue highlights along the bases and branches of the trees to add a pop of color. After I dried my trees I spritzed the whole thing with water. The water lifted some of the watercolor that made faded, vintage looking spots when I blotted the water away.
